There are several service areas within the department:Public Health Services deals with the health and well being of the citizens of Alpine County.
Their services include Health Care in a clinic with a licensed physician, Prevention of communicable diseases, Tobacco Education, Immunizations, Well Child Examinations, HIV and Sexually Transmitted Diseases, and much more.

Environmental Health Services deals with the health and well being of their environment.
Their services include water monitoring, food and restaurant permits, well permits, swimming pool construction, and much more.

Behavioral Health Services deals with the emotional well being of the population of Alpine County.

Social Services deals with programs for certain populations in need or at risk in Alpine county, including such areas as Welfare Assistance, Foster Home Support, Child Protective Services, Adult Protective Services(APS & CPS are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.)
