Glenn County Public health department services:

CCSCalifornia Children Services

• (CCS) provides medical care and rehabilitation for children up to age 21 whose families earn less than $40,000 a year, and who have a serious qualifying medical condition.
• County CCS staff works with the families of all Glenn County children who are referred to CCS, to determine if they are financially and residentially eligible for the program.
• In conjunction with the State CCS staff in Sacramento, Glenn CCS staff case-manages the approximately 150 children enrolled in CCS.
• They educate families, local school personnel, and medical providers about the CCS program; and assist children and families in obtaining the specialized pediatric medical care authorized by CCS.
• CCS staff also works closely with the local special education programs to insure that eligible children receive physical and occupational therapy through the CCS Medical Therapy Program.

CHDPChild Health and Disability Prevention

• (CHDP) is a program which provides well-child medical check-ups for children.
• County CHDP staff reviews all exam results and assists parents in getting treatment for identified problems.

• Clinic ServicesImmunizations - Maintains and administers the state vaccine program for Glenn County.
• Coordinates childhood and kindergarten immunization assessment.
• Receives and distributes state vaccine through health department clinics.
• This includes routine childhood immunizations and the adult flu and pneumonia vaccine.
• Tuberculosis skin testing is also offered.

Lead Poisoning Prevention and Education -

• Provides outreach and education about lead to targeted groups.
• Provides physician trainings and in-services about lead testing and follow up guidelines.
• Provides public health nursing case management to lead burdened children and their families in conjunction with environmental health field investigations.

HIV Testing and Counseling -

• In conjunction with the Department of Health Services and the Office of AIDS provides counseling and testing for HIV at no charge in a variety of settings including public health clinics, drug and alcohol groups, juvenile hall, the jail, Discovery House and during outreach events.

Clinic Services -

• Maintains and coordinates clinic services for the Public Health Section.
• This includes chest clinics, immunizations clinics, pregnancy testing, teen clinics, outreach clinics, HIV testing, STD testing, Family Planning services, and teen clinics.

Communicable DiseaseCommunicable Disease:

• Investigate communicable reports and provides treatment, referrals and contact investigations.
• This includes sexually transmitted diseases, enteric disease, tuberculosis and a variety of other diseases, including anthrax and smallpox.
• Provide outreach and education in all disease related areas to groups and individuals.
• We also provide case management in conjunction with environmental health to all potential rabies exposed individuals.
• Environmental healthenvironmental health services include: disaster sanitation, food inspection, proposition 65, housing and institutions, rabies control, vector control, pools and spas, sewage disposal, solid waste, water wells and monitoring wells.

MCAH/AFLP Programs

• Maternal Child Adolescent Health coordinates programs for women of childbearing years and children 0 to 18 years of age.
• The program provides direct services such as home visits and outreach, education and referrals.

Tobacco Education

The Tobacco Education Program exists to help improve the health of Glenn County's residents by working to reduce preventable, excess death and disease caused by tobacco use and exposure to second hand smoke.

The program educates and informs youth and community members about the negative health effects of tobacco and encourages smokers and chewers to access cessation services.

TuberculosisTuberculosis -

• Maintains and coordinates the TB program in conjunction with the Health Officer and the California Department of Health Services.
• Provides diagnostic care for clients with active tuberculosis including follow up specimens and intensive directly observed therapy.

Women, Infant & Children Program (WIC)

• WIC is a supplement food program for pregnant women, breastfeeding women with infants under 1 year, infants, and children to 5 years.
• Nutrition counseling, breastfeeding assistance and referrals provided.
